We're pleased to have a new antisocial behaviour (ASB) mediation service that will help manage and support ASB cases within our communities.
ASB is a behaviour by a person which causes, or is likely to cause, harassment, alarm or distress to people not of the same household.
With housing, ASB can include:
-
loud noise from neighbours;
-
harassment such as verbal abuse or threats;
-
vandalism, property damage and graffiti;
-
fly-posting, dumping rubbish and abandoned cars;
-
animal nuisance.
What is ASB mediation?
Mediation is a process that involves a mediator (a trained professional) who provides a safe, positive environment to organise a chat using techniques such as active listening and brainstorming to help our residents find a way forward. For mediation to work, those involved need to want to find a resolution.
With over 20 years experience, ADR Mediation & Training CIC is our new mediation service provider.
Thanks to using mediation in the last year (April 2023 - March 2024) we almost halved the number of cases that required legal action, comparing to the year before.
